An Interesting Afternoon

Suzanne and I got locked into our room this afternoon. We got in there just fine, but when we went to get out . . . we couldn't. We felt like we were probably just dumb and missing something obvious. But we were legitimately locked in. We had to slide our key under the door and then have someone else open it from the outside. Needless to say . . . we got a new room.

But before that even happened, somehow my suitcase caught my toe and took off a good portion of my toenail and it bled quite a bit.

And even before that, we ate lunch at a seafood restaurant on the pier. It was one of those times when I was really really sad that I was a vegetarian. It's a good thing I don't come into contact with seafood more often . . . I would be done.

  1. I hate loosing toenails like that. It's the kind of thing that everybody who's ever had that happen winces right away when they read it, reliving the feeling. Visceral, I think that's the word.

  2. It's a good thing I didn't lose all of it! It didn't even come off . . . so I bandaided it (since that's totally a word)so that I wouldn't lose that chunk. Then it would really hurt. I'm thinking that walking barefoot in the sand in the salt water may not be a good idea in the morning though :-(

  3. One time I was camping at the beach in Mexico and somebody threw a Firecracker at my foot. I had really bad burns of some degree. The rest of the week was miserable. I kept getting sand in the torn open wound.
Salt water is supposed to be good for cuts and stuff, right? Just stay away from the sewage.
